Graduation 2019: Saturday May 18, 2019
Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology's 111th annual commencement will take place on Saturday May 18, 2019 beginning at 10:00am in the Franklin Union Auditorium. All guests must have a ticket, which will be supplied to all graduating students in late April.

2019 Commencement Speakers
THE HONORABLE AYANNA PRESSLEY
US House of Representatives 7th Congressional District of Massachusetts
Representative Pressley has represented the 7th Congressional District of Massachusetts since January of 2019. She is the first woman of color to be elected to Congress from Massachusetts. The district includes three-quarters of Boston, most of Cambridge, and all of Chelsea and Somerville. She sits on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Prior to serving in Congress she was a member of the Boston City Council from 2010 to 2019. She served as Sen. John Kerry’s political director and worked for Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II.
REGIS LINO-KELLY, Student
Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS
Born in Honduras, Regis has made Dorchester and Boston his home since around age 5. As a first-gen student, Regis began his education in Boston Public Schools at the Tobin K-8 school and completed high school at the Boston Community Leadership Academy before committing to BFIT. Leadership has always been important to Regis, and he stays involved with his former leadership program, C5 New England, which helps middle and high school students develop their leadership skills and prepares them for college. Upon graduating with his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Regis has accepted a position at 3M as a maintenance technician.

KERRIN JACKSON, Automotive Technology 2011
Service Manager, Sentry Ford Lincoln
Since graduation, Kerrin has been working at Sentry Ford, where she has risen the ranks from Mechanic to Service Advisor, and recently promoted to Service Manager. Kerrin is a Lincoln Brand Champion, and is in charge of the Lincoln Service department, serving half of the dealer clientele. She is currently working on her Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Kerrin is excited to return to BFIT as this year's alumni marshal, and is looking forward to seeing her amazing teachers she had that paved her road to these outstanding opportunities at her dealership.
Academic Awards Reception
On Wednesday May 15, 2019, the College will host its annual Academic Awards Reception to honor graduating students receiving awards from each of the academic departments and Student Affairs, along with recognizing graduating students on the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester.
Students being recognized will be invited by the faculty and staff in early May.
Questions regarding the Academic Awards Reception should be directed to Jackie Cornog, Dean of Students & Associate Dean of Academics.
When is Graduation?
Graduation is on Saturday May 18, 2019 beginning promptly at 10:00am. Graduating students are expected to be at the college no later than 8:30am, and guest are able to enter the auditorium beginning at 9:00am.
Are tickets required?
Yes, any guest entering the auditorium needs to present a ticket for admittance. All graduating students will receive three tickets during graduation rehearsal. Graduates needing additional tickets may request extra tickets during cap and gown distribution based on availability.
I missed graduation rehearsal. Where do I pick up tickets?
Any graduate who was unable to attend graduation rehearsal, and has already submitted their Petition to Graduate can pick up their tickets from Brett Wellman, Assistant Dean of Students (U-113) by Monday May 13, 2019. Any tickets not picked up by Monday May 13th will be made available to students requesting extra tickets.
Is there parking?
Unfortunately there is no parking at BFIT, besides a few metered parking spots on Tremont Street, as we are located in a predominately residential area of the South End. There are a few parking garages nearby (Chinatown, Boston Common, Berkeley /Tremont St.). We encourage guests to take the MBTA, as we are located a few blocks away from both the Orange (Back Bay station) and Green (Arlington station) lines.
Who do I contact for handicap accessible seating?
Anyone requesting handicap accessible reserved seating should contact Brett Wellman, Assistant Dean of Students, by May 15, 2019 so that we can properly accommodate your request at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When is graduation over?
Graduation is approximately 2 hours in length, and is typically over around 12:00pm. There will be a reception with light refreshments immediately following in the BFIT lobby where graduates, families, faculty, and administration can get together and take pictures!
When do I get my diploma?
Graduates who have successfully completed their degree requirements and have satisfied their student account to ensure no holds, will receive their diploma on graduation day. Any graduate with a hold should make arrangements with the Registrar regarding mailing or picking up of diplomas.
