In our associate degree program in Opticianry, you’ll get hands-on training as you learn how to design, fit, and dispense glasses and contact lenses as well as operate all forms of ophthalmic tools and instruments. Our instructors are industry leaders who will prepare you to pass the licensing exam and start a rewarding career helping people enjoy better eye health.

Franklin Cummings Tech’s Associate Degree in Opticianry—the only program of its kind in Massachusetts—will qualify you for positions involving eye wear and contact lens design and dispensing, optical laboratory finishing and management, optical business management, or independent ownership. Our hands-on labs and small classroom settings allow you to build lifelong connections with faculty and your fellow students as you build marketable skills.

There is tremendous demand for opticians in Massachusetts and across the nation. Our graduates work in medical offices, optical boutiques, optical chains, and independent shops. Many graduates seek advanced degrees and/or certification related to business, management, ophthalmic technology, and healthcare management.

Candidates who already have a bachelor’s degree are eligible to complete the Opticianry associate degree program in just one year through our accelerated program.
