Why Give?

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) has deep philanthropic roots. The college evolved directly from Benjamin Franklin’s 1789 bequest of £1000 to support the training of apprentices in Boston. In the early 20th century, wealthy industrialist Andrew Carnegie provided matching funds to establish the Franklin Institute of Boston. Since opening its doors in 1908, the college has remained focused on its charitable mission of providing a career-focused education. Today, BFIT provides students with a pathway to success through hands-on technical degree programs that meet evolving industry needs.

  • Many students are the first in their family to attend college

  • An estimated 90% of our students require financial aid support

  • Our majors are specifically designed for high-demand, high-paying, jobs in fast-growing industries

  • BFIT offers extensive academic support, free tutoring, and career counseling to help students succeed

  • Our graduation rate is over 2X the national average and 3X the state average for 2-year colleges

  • Approximately 83% of graduates find jobs or go onto further their education
