Description of Duties:

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is seeking a full-time/seasonal, non-exempt Maintenance/Public Art Seasonal Assistant to work jointly with the Maintenance and Public Art departments. The Maintenance Department is responsible for the efficient and sustainable maintenance of all “hardscape” elements of the Greenway while providing a safe environment for the public to enjoy. The Public Art department curates large and small scale temporary art installations along The Greenway. It is our intention that the person in this position will devote more than half of his/her time assisting the Maintenance department in its daily operations in maintaining, repairing, cleaning, and installing all hardscape elements throughout the Greenway as well as its vehicles and facilities and less than half of his/her time assisting the Public Art department in its planning for, installation of, maintenance of and de-installation of public art on the Greenway. This is a hands-on position and the broad skill set we are looking for includes strong mechanical aptitude, experience in the building trades including safe use of associated tools and equipment, an appreciation for public art and all that is included in the curatorial and installation processes. Responsibilities will include tasks relating to repair and maintenance of masonry, electrical, plumbing, vehicles, facilities, fountains, furnishings and a broad range of public art. This is a full-time (5 days /40 hours a week), seasonal (approximately end of April to end of October, 2018) position. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday but may include some weekend and holiday work. Benefits are included. This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman and the Curator of Public Art. Responsibilities: o Must be able to work safely in public parks to not endanger self or others. o Assist Maintenance and Public Art departments in all aspects of hardscape maintenance including fountains, lights and electrical, all types of masonry, site furnishings, artworks and structures. o Operate and maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and proper manner. o Represent the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy in a professional manner. o Assist all Conservancy departments as needed. o Perform other assigned duties as they relate to the operation and care of the parks and Public Art.

Required Qualifications:

Qualifications: Education o A bachelor degree is preferred. o Relevant education, work experience or apprenticeship may be acceptable. Experience o Experience in building or landscape construction and/or building/site maintenance as well as general experience/knowledge in artwork installation techniques. o Experience in operation, care and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment required for use in park and artwork maintenance. o Must have a valid US driver’s license in good standing. Knowledge and skills o Possess strong organizational, technical and analytical skills, and contribute to a positive team environment. o Strong attention to detail in all aspects of job performance. o Ability to work independently in an effective manner when required. o A willingness to learn and advance one’s skill set. o Experience/ability to interact productively with contractors, artists and other third parties as a responsible representative of the Greenway Conservancy. o Strong mechanical aptitude as it pertains to lighting and electrical, plumbing and general HVAC. o Possession of hoisting license, pool operator license, First Aid/CPR certificate is a plus o Masonry knowledge and skill is a plus. o Broad based experience in building trades is a plus. o Computer proficiency. o Demonstrated interpersonal skills and commitment to a positive public experience, and concern for the environment and people’s relationship to it. o Must be able to work outside in all types of weather, kneel or stand for periods of time, and able to lift 100 pounds. o Successful candidate must provide references, agree to a background check and be able to gain CORI certification.
