Description of Duties:

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to become an integral part of our service and sales division. He/she must work collaboratively with internal administrative/office personnel, external stakeholders, and union tradespeople in conducting preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems. Essential Duties Include: • Report to assigned project manager as directed • Diagnose and repair building control systems • Conduct site assessments and provide customers with recommendations for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment • Assists sales team by providing technical recommendations for sales leads • Manage assigned work to meet and exceed customer expectations • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings (may assist with job layouts and bid proposals) • Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems • Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required • Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation • Assist in the testing of software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Two (2) years of experience working with building automation systems, with basic understanding of mechanical HVAC/plumbing building systems • Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, air conditioning, information technology or other related field preferred • Knowledge of the construction/HVAC industry, control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building sub-systems, with the ability to read project specifications and "blueprint" drawings • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, customers, vendors, and subcontractors, effectively explaining technical information to non-technical stakeholders • Must possess a high level of ownership, enthusiasm, and a collaborative, professional temperament • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Knowledge of IP-based networks and building automation communication protocols and systems strongly preferred (such protocols and systems include Niagara Tridium, BACnet, N2, LonWorks, Modbus) • Ability to travel locally within the RI/MA/CT area up to 40%
