Description of Duties:

Abel Womack, a market leader in the design and implementation of material handling systems and warehouse solutions, has an immediate need for a CAD Designer / Drafter to join our Engineering team. The CAD Designer will prepare routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams to include all views and dimensions necessary for installation and integration of industrial equipment for our customers. Qualified individuals will demonstrate a high level of proficiency using AutoCAD. Knowledge of or experience in the material handling industry will be strongly considered. The Designer / Drafter will: Use computer assisted design/drafting (AutoCAD) equipment and software to develop designs Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly) and installation drawings Make final sketches of proposed drawings, checking dimensions of parts, materials used, relation of one part to another, and relations of various parts to whole structure or project Accompany Project Engineers on site visits for field measurements when required Sketch rough layout of machines and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes Use knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings Draft detailed multi-view drawings of equipment and systems Prepare installation and maintenance manuals Communicate and work closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing and installation regarding new and revised prints

Required Qualifications:

Qualifications: Highly proficient in AutoCAD Ability to draw finished designs from sketches Ability to draft detailed, multi-view drawings of equipment and systems AS Degree or certificate from 2-year college, technical school (or equivalent) preferred 1-3 years related work experience preferred Experience in material handling industry or warehouse design a plus Strong mechanical aptitude required. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics required Proficiency in MS Office programs, including Word and Excel required
