Tuition and other fees are due before each semester begins. For the fall
semester, tuition and fees are payable by August 15; for the spring semester, they are payable by December 15. Payment plan options are available.
Late Payment Fee
A late fee of $25 is assessed each semester if full payment is not received
when due.
Tuition Deposit
A tuition deposit of $100 is required to reserve a place on the class roster. For applicants offered admission, the deposit is payable by May 1 or within 14 days of notification of acceptance after May 1. Deposits received prior to May 1 may be refunded after the student has submitted a written request. Deposits received after May 1 are not refundable.
Application Fee (Non-refundable Fee)
An application fee of $25 ($50 for international applicants) must accompany each application for admission to BFIT. College Board tuition waivers are honored.
Health Insurance Plan (Non-refundable Fee)
Under the provisions of Chapter 23, Section 22, of the 1988 Massachusetts Health Security Act, effective September 1, 1989, each institution of higher education must require all full- and part-time students to participate in the student health insurance program or provide evidence of participation in a health insurance program with comparable coverage. For this purpose part-time students are defined as those participating in at least 75% of the academic requirements for full-time students. The charge for the school's health insurance plan for 2008/2009 is $385. This fee will be charged to all students and will be removed only if a waiver card, showing comparable coverage, is submitted before the start of the school year. This fee
covers a full year and cannot be refunded due to withdrawal.
Graduation Fee (Non-refundable Fee)
A graduation fee will be assessed during the Spring semester of the student's year of graduation. This fee covers commencement expenses.
Withdrawals and Refunds
Students who find it necessary to withdraw completely from the BENJAMIN FRANKLIN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY must file an Official Withdrawal Form with the Academic Dean's Office within a few days of withdrawal. Absence from class does not reduce a student's financial obligation nor guarantee that a final grade will not be recorded.
Upon receipt of the Official Withdrawal Form from the Academic Dean's Office, BFIT's Business Office may make a partial tuition refund. The date on which such notice is received will be considered the effective date of withdrawal. Students failing to file an Official Withdrawal Form will be provided a refund consistent with Federal Regulations.
Federal regulations provide that students who are receiving federal student aid, and withdraw prior to completing 60% of the semester, will have up to 100% of their Federal Title IV financial aid awards returned to the issuing agency. If withdrawal is past the 60% point of the semester, the student will earn 100% of all financial aid.
