Special Tuition Benefits for Veterans

We are a Yellow Ribbon college, supporting the Post-9/11 GI2 Bill® for veterans. This enables us to make additional funds available for your college education without an additional charge to your GI Bill® entitlement.

You will be eligible for full tuition benefits if:

  • You have served at least three years after September 11, 2001
  • You were honorably discharged
  • If you served on active duty less than three years, reduced benefits are still available

Tip: Complete the online FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after January 1 to be considered for the widest range of financial assistance. Our college code is 002151.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Readmission Policy for Activated Military

Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology makes every effort to accommodate the needs of Veterans who are activated during the semester. If a service member is withdrawn due to college policies, Franklin Cummings Tech will allow active-duty service members to be readmitted to the college, provided their absence was less than 30 days. Service members must provide appropriate documentation of their activation to be reinstated. Students needing to miss class due to short term military obligation should notify their instructors and success coach of their absence.

Veterans Benefit Recipients

In some instances, it may be permissible for a student to receive VA Educational Benefits that when combined with other financial aid exceeds the total financial need. However, Franklin Cummings Institute (FC Tech) of Technology encourages students to limit their educational borrowing to no more than absolutely necessary. Educational loans must be repaid. Our Financial Aid advisors are trained to help military service members apply for aid with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For personalized information and counseling, service members are encouraged to contact the Veterans Services Coordinator at 617-588-1344 or jklasen@franklincummings.edu.

Federal Financial Aid
Your Federal Financial Aid (Pell grant, Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Direct Loans) will not be reduced due to your receipt of Veterans’ Benefits. Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology Scholarships Your FCT financial aid could be affected by your receipt of Veterans’ Benefits. Your receipt of a FC Tech need-based scholarship and any combination of outside scholarships, and veterans’ educational benefits may not exceed institutionally demonstrated financial need. A reduction of need-based financial aid will be required only if the total amounts received from these sources exceed the student’s calculated financial need. Regardless of the type of VA benefit received or whether that benefit results from the student’s military service, or the military service of their parent, the impact on the student’s financial aid is the same.

Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP)

Student Veterans of America (SVA) Chapter

As a student veteran, you can join our SVA chapter, which was formed in 2014 to help veterans achieve success while at school and also with job placement after graduation. The chapter maintains a private designated space for student veterans, provides access to veteran-related resources, and organizes events.  Veterans also have an on-campus student veterans resource center in partnership with The Home Depot Foundation. The resource center serves as a private designated space for student veterans to congregate, study, and host meetings. Students also have access to veteran-related resources. Noted Ryan Hadfield, US veteran and the college’s SVA then-Chapter President and Automotive Technology student. “We also want to ensure that current and future veterans at the college have access to the resources they need to succeed and a sense of community at the college.”
