International Students

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology

Welcome to Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology. Founded in 1908, we are a private, nonprofit, technical college located in Boston’s historic South End neighborhood. Our academic programs are designed for students pursuing technical careers in high-growth industries.

Students from Greater Boston and around the world are immersed in a supportive learning environment. Our staff is committed to the success of all students. We are proud to work with students from different backgrounds. In fact, 70% of our student body comprises minority students from many different cultures. We warmly welcome international students to join our community!

English Language Proficiency. Proficiency in the English language is required of all students.

Complete at least one of the following requirements:

  • Take one of the following language proficiency tests and submit your scores with your application for admission.
  • Successfully complete your English as a Second Language (ESL) courses in our Partner English Institutes and submit your transcript/certificate.
  • Successfully complete college-level English courses in a US college or university and submit your official transcript.

Academic Records: International students are required to submit an official copy of all records of academic coursework. This includes:

  • Official secondary school diploma and transcript
  • Official college transcript(s) (for transfer applicants)

If the secondary diplomas and/or academic certificates are from outside of the US (but not an American school), applicants are required to have their credentials evaluated by a professional evaluation service. We recommend the Center for Educational Documentation to provide us the appropriate documents.

Submit letter(s) with your application. Email these to admissions@franklincummings.edu.

International applicants must submit the Confidential Declaration of Finances form and an official bank statement to show evidence of their ability to pay educational and living expenses while studying in the US. The college has estimated that $42,000 should be sufficient to cover first year expenses, including tuition, room and board, books and fees.

Financial Assistance:
International students are ineligible for all forms of federal and state financial aid, but they may apply for Merit-based scholarship and our no-interest payment plans.

For transfer students who are currently holding an F-1 Visa and studying in US, please submit a copy of your Passport, Visa, I-94 form, and I-20 form(s).

Complete the International Student Transfer Form to transfer your I-20 from your current institution.

Additional documents, like SAT/ACT and personal statements, are recommended but not required.

Upon receipt of your application, all the required documentation, and fees, your application will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please send all written correspondence and documents to:
