Engaged Citizenship

Central to a Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology education is the import we place on civic responsibility and vested citizenship. Education is a community asset and we strive to instill the importance of giving back and helping others to our students.

Volunteer programs, civic engagement and service-learning both inside and outside the classroom, encourage students to make a difference in their local communities while promoting personal growth through emphasis on social responsibility, citizenship, and leadership skills.

The College has worked to deliver more volunteer programs by developing short and long-term projects for students as well as partnering with faculty to incorporate service-learning initiatives into their curriculum.

Highlights:

  • Over 1,600 hours of volunteer, civic engagement & service learning performed by our students this past year.
  • 32+ community service and educational partners

  • 67% student participation in our Civic Responsibility Program
