Students in violation of the BFIT Student Code of Conduct (as outlined in the BFIT student handbook) or BFIT Residence Life and Housing Handbook may be subject to various disciplinary actions based on the severity of the incident and/or the student’s level of responsibility.
The Student Conduct system is designed to be educational, so students are learning within the process why their actions or behaviors were inappropriate or not acceptable for the community, and what they can do to be a more positive member of the community.
Sanctions include, but are not limited to:

Residence Hall Warning
|
Official warning for residential students based on a residential policy violation
|
|
Residence Hall Probation
|
Probation set for a period of time which states that any future violations while on probation may affect a student’s ability to live in campus housing
|
|
Deferred Housing Suspension
|
A student’s housing suspension is on hold for a period of time. Any violations during this time will result in immediate housing suspension
|
|
Housing Suspension
|
Student is no longer permitted to live in college housing during the specified time and must vacate belonging within 24 hours
|
|
College suspension
|
Student is no longer permitted to take classes, or be on campus, during a specified time and must reapply to the college through the college’s re-admittance policy that is published in the course catalog
|
|
College Expulsion
|
Permanent separation from the college
|
|
Disciplinary Warning
|
Official warning for any student based on a student code of conduct violation
|
|
Disciplinary Probation
|
Probation set for a period of time which states that any future violations while on probation may affect a student’s status at the college

Judicial Educator Modules
|
Free online educational program through reslife.net which students will review information online and take a 10-question quiz to successfully complete the sanction
|
|
Under the Influence (Alcohol)
|
Online educational program through 3rd Millennium Classrooms regarding alcohol education. There is a small cost associated with this sanction
|
|
Marijuana 101 (Drug)
|
Online educational program through 3rd Millennium Classrooms regarding marijuana education. There is a small cost associated with this sanction
|
|
Community Service
|
A student must complete a specified number of hours through giving back to the BFIT or Boston community. Students can utilize community service opportunities that are available through the college
|
|
Restitution
|
Money billed to a student to cover the cost of damage or destruction to college property at equivalent cost to the College
|
|
Referral to Another Office/Department
|
Student is referred to another office, department, or outside personals regarding a specific topic for a certain amount of time or visits. The host professional will sign off on student completion
|
|
Fines
|
Cost billed to a student for a violation if necessary
|
|
Transcript Notation
|
Official notation on College transcript
|
|
Parental Notification
|
Notice sent to parents/guardians of a student for any alcohol or drug violation, or other violations to the discretion of the Conduct Officer
