  • "Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology changed my life.  I began at the age of 22 and did not see any hopes of graduating with a degree.  But with the personalized attention and faculty who really care, I now have a Computer Engineering Degree and work at IBM, something I always dreamed of doing.  The Office of Career Services facilitated this internship and it has had such an impact in my life.  If it had not been for BFIT, my quality of life would not be what it is today.  Thank you BFIT!"

Residence Life

Office of Residence Life and Housing

The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology offers limited housing through a relationship with the Berkeley Residence. The Berkeley Residence is located directly across the street from the college in the heart of the South End. The Residence hosts both male and female occupants serving as both a permanent residence and a hostel for tourists both nationally and abroad. This year, BFIT will offer space to approximately 60 students.

The cost for the 2011/2012 academic year:

  • Double Room $9,300 ($4,650 per semester)
  • Single Room $13,500 ($6,750 per semester)*

*Single rooms are very limited and students must fill out an application for a single room. Single rooms are not guaranteed.

A Director of Residence Life and two Graduate Residence Coordinators (GRCs) live on site throughout the academic year. They will conduct monthly meetings at the Berkeley Residence to assist students with the transition to college, build community and create social opportunities. The GRC’s will review and enforce all policies of BFIT and the Berkeley Residence. A handbook is provided to all resident students by the Berkeley Residence in addition to the BFIT student handbook. Students are required to adhere to the policies and regulations of both institutions.

There are additional programs that involve the ability for students to purchase a lunch plan local eateries and a discounted student membership at the Wang YMCA of Chinatown. These costs are separate from the housing agreement.

A $200 deposit is required to reserve a room. There will be a waiting list once all rooms are filled.

Returning students should submit their room deposit no later than May 1, 2012. Incoming new students should submit their room deposits no later than August 1, 2012.
