PlumChoice and the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology Partner to Provide Tech Support Training to Next Generation Workforce
Experiential Learning Program Readies Future Tech Experts to Help Consumers Optimize and Connect the ‘Internet of Things’

LOWELL and BOSTON, Mass.,– Today PlumChoice, Inc., an advanced tech support services provider that optimizes the benefits people and companies derive from their personal technology experiences, and the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT), a private nonprofit technical college, announced a partnership to co-fund and co-manage a new campus facility dedicated to training tech support agents of the future.

The initiative comes as a result of both organizations’ commitments to educating, training, developing and creating opportunities for the impressive pool of technical talent, both locally and nationally.

PlumChoice executives know that the demand for their technical support services is gaining momentum due to consumers’ increasingly connected lifestyles and the proliferation of the “Internet of Things.” Technology – and the integration of technologies – is becoming ever more complex for the people and businesses who use them and the brands that build and market them, requiring a more expansive definition of technical assistance and support. The partnership between PlumChoice and Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology is uniquely positioned to prepare the next generation of technical services experts to engage with these emerging and increasingly complex technical trends and consumer needs.

“Educational partnerships like the one with Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology help us prepare for and meet that expanding definition and demand while championing local technical students who continue to immerse themselves and become experts on emerging technologies,” said David Temlak, senior vice president of customer service, innovation and delivery at PlumChoice. “When these students graduate, they’re not just leaving with a piece of paper, they leave with real-world experience that gives them a leg up in their professional careers. That, in turn, enables us to recruit some of the best technical agents in our own backyard – and across the country.”

The partnership builds on Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology’s model of providing practical, hands-on experience to support the theory students learn in class and in lab. Furthermore, this program allows the college’s students to practice the “soft skills” emphasized in the college’s curriculum, like effective communication, problem solving, collaboration, and time management that will yield greater return on their educational investment post-graduation.

“This partnership is a great example of how BFIT works with industry to be sure that what we teach is relevant and practical,” said Anthony Benoit, President of Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology. “Young people are more and more aware that an associate degree in a technical field is a great investment. Partnerships like this one with PlumChoice show that the education we provide is valuable, not only to our students, but to the businesses of the commonwealth.”
