Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology Hosts 14th Annual Women in Technology Event to Promote STEM Education for Young Women

Boston, MA—On Wednesday, April 9th, Benjamin Franklin Institute ofTechnology (BFIT) will hold its 14th Annual Women in Technology (WIT)seminar at the college’s historic campus in the South End. More than 100female high school students are expected to attend the event. WITprovides an opportunity to learn about the value of STEM education byhearing from accomplished women in technical fields and throughinteractive technology-based workshops and team activities.

Anthony Benoit, BFIT’s 12th President, believes that it is vital torecruit young women into STEM education and graduate them into technicaljobs as part of the skilled workforce in MA. “Right here inMassachusetts, in just six years, we are going to be 36,000 associateand bachelor’s degrees short of what we need for the STEM workforce. Theannual WIT event is just one of the ways the college is trying toencourage young women to enter technical fields where both opportunityand earning potential are significantly higher.”
