Testimonials

  • Fundraiser Extraordinaire
  • Single-handedly, Benjamin Franklin raised the equivalent of $14 million in today's money to finance the American revolution. After his death, by means of a perpetual fund established in his will, Dr. Franklin seeded the creation of the College “for the benefit of young tradesmen in Boston.” Your support makes it possible for our students to fulfill his vision of a healthy future through education and training.

Online Giving

Our benefactor, Dr. Franklin, envisioned a vital center of learning in his hometown to provide training to aspiring, young technical career professionals so that they would become good citizens.  Your gift will help to alleviate the terrible personal and economic toll that under-education and poverty take on individuals, families, and communities in the U.S.  When you invest in the College you not only support education, but you also improve the future of our city, our state, and our nation by investing in our youth.  If you are already a supporter, thank you for the lives you have transformed.  If this is the first time you are considering a gift, your contribution is a measurable step towards solving the critical need to educate youth.  Your generous gift will support and education, but more than that, it will provide hope and opportunity for youth in your community.  Our scholarship students are constantly expressing their gratitude and their happiness that someone they have never met cares about their future.

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, a private two-year college in the historic South End, was created by a bequest in Benjamin Franklin’s will to train “good apprentices [who] are likely to make good citizens.” His perpetual fund attracted a matching gift from industrialist Andrew Carnegie in 1904. The College opened in 1908 and it is one of New England's oldest colleges of engineering and industrial technologies. We prepare culturally-diverse and primarily low-income students for a meaningful technical career, to earn wages, and to be productive citizens as was the intent of our benefactor, Benjamin Franklin.

Annual Fund

All contributions to the Annual Fund help provide a foundation for students to launch a successful career in their chosen vocational or technical field.  Over 95% of the 2011 graduates are either employed or are continuing their education at a four-year college. Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology’s graduation rate is three times that of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and over two times the national average for two-year colleges.

Your contribution is 100% tax deductible and will be acknowledged with a personalized letter.  Our tax identification (EIN) number is 22-2995201.

H&G Scholarship Endowment Fund

Due to the generosity of James A. Hughes and Frederick Graham, an endowed scholarship program has been established for the benefit of Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and its students. Upon completion, the match will add $1 million to the existing $3.5 million endowment. Your participation in our H&G Endowment Challenge Campaign will support our founder’s foresight that a strong society needs skilled, educated youth to “become good citizens,” and guarantees that Dr. Franklin’s legacy continues far into the future. The H&G Fund honors the memory of two extraordinary ladies who support education. Your gift not only strengthens the College’s financial bedrock, but it will also directly serve our students with annual scholarships.  A gift to the H & G Endowment will guarantee that Dr. Franklin’s legacy continues far into the future.

A gift to the Annual Fund or the Endowment is an excellent way to honor friends, family, and business associates while supporting worthy students in need.
