How do I apply to BFIT?


All applicants are required to submit an application. You may contact the admissions office to request a paper application or
apply online . We strongly encourage students to apply online. When you apply online, we waive the $25 application fee!

Applicants are required to submit an official high school transcript or GED. We do not require students to submit SAT or ACT scores, but we do encourage students to take one of those. For transfer students, you must submit a copy of any and all college transcripts.

Upon completion of your admissions application, it will be reviewed and you will be notified in writing of the decision. 

Prior to enrolling, students must partake in the Accuplacer placement testing process. The Accuplacer helps us determine a student’s level of English, Math and Computer skills and is used to place students into the appropriate level of courses.   In addition, prior to enrollment, students must also supply a copy of their immunization records.


Is Financial Aid available?


Yes financial aid is available if you qualify. Please visit the Financial Aid page  for additional information.

How much is tuition?


Tuition for the 2009-2010 academic year is $13,950 for the Associate’s degree programs and most certificate programs. The Pharmacy Technology program costs $9,950 per year and the Bachelor of Science program costs $15,100 for the academic year.

What types of programs do you offer at BFIT?


We offer Bachelor and Associate degrees and Certificates in Industrial and Engineering Technology.

What majors are offered?


We offer 15 different programs including: Architectural Technology, Automotive Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Medical Electronics Engineering Technology, Ophthalmic Assisting, Pharmacy Technology, Practical Electricity and HVAC&R.

Where are you located?


Our address is 41 Berkeley St., Boston, MA 02116. We are conveniently located in the South End of Boston, easily accessible by public transportation. The nearest T stops are Back Bay (Orange Line and Commuter Rail) and Arlington (Green Line). Click for Directions.

What immunizations do I need?

Do you take transfer credits from other colleges or universities?


Yes. We accept credits from regionally accredited colleges or universities. Credits will be awarded for course work completed at other accredited colleges and universities that is equivalent in content and credit hours to BFIT courses and in which at least a grade of "C" was earned. Transfer students must complete 51% of their program's courses at BFIT in order to earn their degree.

What if I did not pass the MCAS?


If you did not pass the MCAS, you must contact the Office of Admission to learn more about our Ability to Benefit (ATB) assessment test.

Do you have housing?


Yes. The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology offers various housing options through a partnership with the Berkeley YWCA residence. Additional fees apply.

Do you have any sports teams?


We have Men's Soccer and compete in Division III. The college is an active member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (www.njcaa.org) and participates in Region XXI comprised of two-year colleges from the New England region.
