What can you expect from the Placement Test?
Students must take the Accuplacer Placement Test prior to being
enrolled for the upcoming semester in order to be placed into the
appropriate English and Math courses.
There are three components and test-takers are allotted 3 hours for the test:
Math- Consists of a web-based placement exam in Arithmetic and Elementary Algebra. Some applicants may be asked to take a third level math course (College level) depending on their performance on the first two math tests. Calculators are not allowed; however, one may appear on the computer screen for many questions. We will also supply you with paper and writing utensils to solve problems.
English- You will be asked to read a short essay and respond to a prompt in writing. Non-native speakers of English also take a computer-based reading test.
Academic Consultation- After finishing the test, students meet with a placement proctor for an Academic Consultation to discuss assessment results and course options.
