Learning to communicate effectively is a valuable skill in any field. At Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, we teach communication and critical thinking skills in conjunction with the specific hands-on education offered by other departments to ensure that our students are well prepared and have strong habits to succeed in the diverse industries where they will work. The Department of General Education encompasses 3 program areas in Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Physics, and the Department of Academic Development. The core curriculum in these programs promotes effective communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, information literacy, professionalism, ethical decision-making, logical analysis, and problem solving. Courses focus on the specific academic skills required for each individual’s success in the engineering and industrial technologies.
