The office of the Learning Specialist is located inside of the Academic Support Center in room 118. The Learning Specialist is available to meet with students who possess additional learning needs and/or want to request accommodations.
Students with disabilities are eligible for reasonable accommodations under various federal and state laws.
Students who seek accommodations must provide valid documentation of a disability to the Learning Specialist before receiving services. Based on the nature of the disability, the Learning Specialist will determine the accommodations the college is able to provide. All information regarding disabilities is treated confidentially.

Meet the Learning Specialist:
Wendy LaBron provides disability support and intensive academic services for BFIT students and helps run the Academic Support Center at BFIT. In addition to her work at BFIT, she is a faculty member at New England Conservatory of Music where she teaches college writing and ESL and provides individual academic support to graduate and undergraduate students. She previously worked as a Learning Specialist at Mount Ida College, taught English and ESL at San Francisco State University and other colleges, and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Estonia.
Wendy earned her M.A. with distinction in English Composition with a post-secondary reading certificate from San Francisco State University. She also has a B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from Northern Arizona University.
